Training a dog to leave it, or to avoid touching and sniffing unwanted stuff, can be a difficult behavior to discipline, but patience and practice with dog food or treats at home helps. Teach a dog to "leave it" with a certified dog trainer in this free video on dog obedience.

  • teaching leave it with food is extremely useful - it teaches the dog self control and patience not to go for the food (what if you were having a picnic?!) the dog not being worked with IS someone else's dog that is at the park we were at. His owner was no where around and was blocked from what we were doing till he finally gave up and left to find his owner. This was filmed at an actual dog park. The one being trained was borrowed to learn this behavior on the spot.

  • but how else would you do it? hit the dog every time it tries to get the food? that's just going to make it scared of you. and scared of being touched by hands.

her method is the accepted one for all dog trainers and the kennel club.

  • @pimpo911 yes

  • can i use a pen as a clicker?

  • @gagothesith Actually the other dog the Red and white Brown whatever. Is a Basenji Basenji's you cannot easily atr all train to not be aggressive, they are hunting dogs, and verr unique, infact we have 2. They fight and growl almost everyday. WE can't do crap about it.

  • my pitbull was really simple you didn't need treats you just took a handful of kibble and gave her one at a time like a treat and she thought it was , but sadly last year she died because someone threw poisoned meat into my yard on perpose and she ate it and she got so sick me and my friend had to put her on a blanket and trudge her into the car to take her to the vet and about two hours later she died and i miss her so much she was the best dog ever im just sad i had to see her in so much pain

  • @gagothesith Maybe he's a work-in-progress? That's why she was using him for the video.

  • I like how Expert village always cuts people off >_>

  • @xpiecemealx You only see the couple minutes she's doing the preliminary training. The goal is to extend the duration of the command before the treat giving, and then eventually wean the dog from treats all together, so praise alone satisfies the dog. Eventually the dog takes the basically skills learned in this video and extends them over minutes. The training process takes weeks for the dog to really master.

  • this helped alot :)

  • I love this method. My yellow lab pup is 10 weeks, Marley knows sit, down, up, and we are teaching her heel. We are trying not to do the Complexe training, like roll, play dead and more... as you would never need to use these skills on day to day life. I will defonetely use this though. To see videos of her, check out my channel! -PG98 oxo Great video!

  • She looks like an Anatolian Shepherd pupp
