This is a video I made for a Sunday Service at my church. I edited video from Superman Returns and gave it a Christian theme asking people that are in search of hero, that they really need a savior. Enjoy and visit us at www.3guysvdo.com sometime.
Basically what I'm trying to say is that "hero" and savior" are the same thing.
"savior" us basically Greek for hero.
Superman isn't really against Christians at all, really, either. He's a secular metaphor for something truly great. He's a reminder of Jesus. Paul also makes a point somewhere about using secular metaphors for Christ, but I'm not sure where exactly it is.
c.1300, "one who delivers or rescues from peril," also a title of Jesus Christ, means "to save" (see save (v.)). In Christian sense, translation of Gk. soter "savior." Replaced O.E. hælend "healer."
Hero:
1.a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.
4.Classical Mythology.
a.a being of godlike prowess and beneficence who often came to be honored as a divinity.
c.(in later antiquity) an immortal being; demigod.
This is pretty interesting. Are you saying that superman is sacreligious and should be ignored? I believe that people love superhero stories so much because they remind us that we need rescuing, and as Christians they remind us that we can do great things, just like a superhero.
Jesus was crucified as a SACRIFICE for our sins, and His death served as the reason for His believers
(True Christians)to not perish and have Eternal Life. No one is sinless, and the price of sin is death, and Jesus is our Savior, and He obeyed God to rescue His people and give Salvation to us. Since His birth Prophecy fulfilled, He became our HOPE, and the Only and Way to God in Eternity., Shalom! =p
