1939 Hallicrafters HT-4 Pictorial Memories Timeline

This updated (added photos to end, and fades out music at end) timeline pictorial covers some history of the HT-4 in photos, and this HT-4 in my own very recent past. I was told by a prior owner that this unit was one of 20 units built between 1938 and 1939. It served the military during WW2 but it appears it did not get deployed to overseas, field operations and stayed stateside. It was returned to its original owner, a ham in New York state, after the war. I have not been able to determine who this was, unfortunately.

I am occasionally on an west coast AM net at 3870 kc on Saturday mornings. It works well on both phone and CW, putting out over 500 watts.

Thank you Jim, Peter, Ken, Tom, Doug and Bob for making this HT-4 to be even possible to be operational in my shack. Thank you to the west coast Saturday morning AM net for their hospitality and support. A huge thank you (gratzie mille) to the Italian gentlemen who so lovingly have restored an SCR-299 that appears towards the end of the clip, so one can see the HT-4's wartime application and inclusion in this incredible rolling communication system.

Thanks especially to Chuck Dachis and Bob Samuelson, by whose courtesy, you see the photo of Bill Halligan as seen in his office with the first HT-4 prototype in 1938.

The Glenn Miller music accompaniment was downloaded from the Internet Archives and is in the public domain as far as I know (why else would it be there?). Otherwise, it is only used to accompany the photos for the period of history.
