Actually, this map looks like it takes place in Japan.

The style of houses is Japanese. The statues that turn into those monsters look like Japanese Samurais.

Also, the Super shotgun in Doom actually did more damage than a direct rocket hit most of the time. :)

The spread of the pellets and the damage each one did was the main cause for the high damage. Seems to me that Hacx has lowered the number of pellets and tightened the spread

@DavidB1001 Well, according to the developers, this level, as well as the few after it, take place in Hong Kong, China. Also, I find that the Cryogun is sometimes more useful than the Super Shotgun, due to its faster firing rate.

@Matt534Dog Yeah, the Cryogun is really fast compared to the Super Shotgun.

As for the developers saying that, I could be mistaken, but the style of the houses do look a little Japanese.

Maybe I'm going crazy. :)
