Brad who?
Well maybe they're not quite ready to forget about Brad Sinopoli just yet, but it looks like there will be less people asking what the new quarterback's name is thanks to Aaron Colbon's stellar debut performance for the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees on Labour Day Monday in Guelph.
The Ottawa native narrowly missed cracking the 300 mark with 298 yards passing in his first game as starting QB, completing 23 of 32 pass attempts for two touchdowns and rushing for another 46.
Perhaps more importantly, Colbon went a long way to calming Gee-Gees football fans' nerves about losing 2010 CIS MVP Brad Sinopoli to the Calgary Stampeders.
Ottawa coach J.P. Asselin remembers that there were similar worries a few years ago when Josh Sacobie graduated and Sinopoli was the young guy coming in. With Sacobie now in his corner as new Gee-Gees quarterback coach, could Colbon be next in line to claim the Hec Crighton Trophy?
For the time being, the 21-year-old former Cumberland Panther and Sir Wilfrid Laurier Lancer would take a successful home debut in front of his family, friends and old coaches when his Gee-Gees take on the Queen's Golden Gaels Saturday, Sept. 10 at Frank Clair Stadium for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
Check out this video for thoughts from Colbon and Asselin about the player who's been working hard in the background for three years, and is now ready into the lead role and make a name for himself.
