  • i do not hit the quick. less is more, just dremel a little bit each week. when you stack them, old their head and rear end and let them stand naturally.

when they resist pause, but dont let go. wait until they relax and then release. you can use use food when trimming nails to help focus and relax.

you may try to stack them and then reward with food rather than lure. if you are using a lure, hold it lower and parrallel with the ground

  • The earlier the better! Then it becomes routine.

  • I think you are a wonderful dog owner and breeder. If I got another puppy, you would be one I would adopt from. You are so patient and you really work hard to make your puppies have a good start at life. You are amazing :) lol I love it!

  • @Sobbythepwnisher Stacking means to put them into a "show dog pose" which if your showing will help them to learn to stand there and be judged and not move. You can teach them to self stack which looks prettier or you can do it yourself. hope that helps :)

  • What's it mean to stack them? They need help to stand or something when their this small?

  • I have an 2 month old shih tzu and his nails are very long, can I use that same nail filer you used in your video?

  • By the way, when you trim the pups' nails, do you sometimes hit the quick area? I always do all the time! Maybe it's because they're just too small & the pups move too much.

  • I[m trying this with my 3 week old puppies but they aren't as calm as your pup. Also when I stack them, they push & try to sit instead. I do lure them with soft food & sometimes they stack pretty nicely.

  • So I start trimming my pups' nails at three weeks old?

  • Amazing how they can learn at such a young age. I remember when the experts wanted you to wait until they were 6 mos old before starting training.
