In September 2003, DHL fired 3,000 of it's own workers after they bought Airborne Express so that they could hire independent contractors. Nah.. the takeover wars in all the industries have been going on forever. The German government in this case appears to have subsidized Deutche Post to attempt a chance at competing with UPS and FDX. It didn't work and given all the lobbying that went on I am still trying to figure out who got what from whom! It doesn't matter who is President or in Congress... the cardinal rule here is "hide your wallet" !!

I am very familiar with DHL ; having worked for them after they bought out a company I worked for. I stayed with DHL after the buy out and hated every minute of it. Eventually I left and took employment elsewhere. Truthfully and with objectivity, I can say without reservation, DHL is the biggest Suck outfit. Just wait and see what they do to the "brokerage side" of their American enterprise. I got out while the getting was good and never looked back.
