Hardcore was cutting edge thing, and the other college rock scenes didn't dig the 80's garage no matter how it was packaged. MTV and Rolling Stone magazine actually gave decent coverage of these bands at the time, but nobody was diggin' it. The Paisley Underground thing never gained much traction, either.

Not bragging but, we were hanging out on the Sunset Strip all day, and we were peeking in at the Roxy while they rehearsed, they let us listen to a couple of songs then we ran into them again at Tower Records Sunset. Later that night we saw the Pandora's, and Drama, and thats why they gave us the drinks...lol on the house!!!! hahaha... The Pandora's rocked it that night like no other band! I got the pictures in my memories album.

Haha... i have the best pictures of the Pandora's live at the Roxy I don't remember the year, but I was in High School, but Rodney Bingenheimer found me and my two friends a ride home that night. They played with Dramarama that night, and Dramarama was giving us free beer!!!(: ahhhhhh those were the days ..hehee before I turned techno/disco...ugh!

The rest of the band became the Muffs for a while, then spintered, as without Paula they were lost. They were much prettier in person, God Bless You Paula....YOU ROCK

Yeah Paula died suddenly, but before she did she changed the direction from 60's garage punk to late 80's heavy metal ( Run Down Love Battery). They actually made one more garage LP but Paula and record company refused to release it, they tried to cash in on the metal scene with limited success.
Saw them quite a few times here on the east coast in Garage mode, and they rocked, Often wondered why mid 80's Garage didn't take off????

I just watched some Pandoras videos the other day and was really impressed... they should have been recognised... there was a big gap in recognition circa 1988-2005 and more's the pity for what was swept under the rug
