Some "proper" jazz. Its a Monk tune, so it's not an easy blow. This is a quick take... sorry for video quality. Suggest you don't watch the video but perhaps leave the audio on while doing something more interesting, like the recycling or alphabetising your CD collection.

  • Your playing is breathtaking! I admire the control you've gained over your instrument and the great solo ideas. This tune is a real challenge! Thanks a lot.

  • @ulrichhoebler Thanks so much Uli, Ive been tackling this tune for about 3 years, and only now feel confident to record it. It's tricky to come up with anything meaningful at all :-) My only tip is to incorporate the f sharp (on tenor) on both the gmaj7 chord and the D7, it adds interest and is away from the g minor blues that you can fall into too easily.

  • Hi Matt , very nicely played . Do you still play the Grain House on Wednesdays ?

  • @staguk334433 Thanks, yes every other Wednesday at the Grainstore in Oakham, I'm there this week. We kick off at 8.30ish

  • one of my favorite songs, thank you for this

  • Super job, as usual..Great work!!

  • swingin man! great job!

  • Great work.. and the G2-D3 jump is in good tune! I always get sharp there. I need to dust this one off and give it another go; it has been a few years. Your solo is nicely paced and quite inventive, too (loved the Ellington quote). Another fine job, Matthew. Thanks!

  • Thanks crazydaisydoo!

    Made my day/night ;-)

  • Great, Man! My favorite CrazyDaisy listen to date. And don't sweat the video quality, pretty fun for what it is. Jamey Abersold Band accompanying? Uhh, Rock On!
