@oceallaigh2003 Excuse the misspelled Oceallaigh, I was refering to Gombeen in the pejorative and not the literal (it seems you took it that way) as it can refer to small minded and petty, especially in Ireland- I think you are being harsh towards McSavage, a failed Comedian, who would you rather have Brendan O'Carroll and Mrs Brown? at least he is trying to satarise the state of the country and I think he does it (with the help of Declan Rooney and Pat McDonnell)

@MrMarcusirish it's lumpen not lumping, and what's with all the personal attacks just because I express an opinion on a failed "comedian".Also a Gombeen is someone who tries to underhandedly make money opportunistically at the expense of other,if you are going to use Irish words then know what you are talking about.
-
@oceallaigh2003 Are you joking man, I'm a working class lad from Liverpool and I'm certainly not lumping proleteriat pal, McSavage has it spot on, this and Hardy Bucks is the best thing to come out of Ireland in years so shut up yer Gombeen!!!
-
Im a house and I find this offensive.
-
@oceallaigh2003 That's grand. But we live in a big world, and any piece of art that makes existence more bearable and gives a laugh to at least one person is a success.
Is it possible you're just not seeing some subtle things behind the obvious themes in his sketches? Everything has a subtext, even if it's "accidental".
Look mate, have a nice Christmas, hope you're with the people you love.

@LordShivas.I am sure there are many sitcoms/shows that wouldn't be your cup of tea but hopefully no one will make personal atttacks on you for that,I enjoy a multitude of comedy shows and comedians,McSavage's blend of "humour" just doesn't cut it for me .I find his sketches crass, infantile and pandering to the low brow ,low class, uneducated elements of society, end of story.I have heard better and more sophisticated craic/humour in the pubs around Ballyfermot.
-
@LordShivasServant **"how many TV shows of yours" was meant to be the second sentence.
-
@oceallaigh2003 How many views do you have?
How many TV shows have made it onto a national network?
Would you consider the box-office flop "Fight Club" 'hardly' success even though it's now cult? The Savage Eye is cult TV.
Success is creating something, being happy with it, sharing it to as many or more people than you can imagine actually exist.
What's success to you?
Come on man, grow up. You're no bigger by belittling a national TV show. It wont win you friends.
-
@LordShivasServant Almost 61,000 views and only 71 likes, hardly the definition of success.
-
@oceallaigh2003 Success, whether it pleases your vocabulary or not, is defined by whether someone laughs at/with you - decides you're worth remembering - and finds your work again.
It doesn't matter how you feel about that.
You know why I think this gets notoriety? Because IT REFLECTS SOCIAL REALITY, and we all know this deep down. It makes some of us uncomfortable and liberates others. Without that quality it's just stupid "League of Gentlemen" rubbish with no worth.
@ballickmoyler Yea sure, and then you woke up in the caravan listening to your mother-in-law taking a dump
