DJ Jazzy Jeff's DJ Set Cut Short in KC: Skillz Speaks

Exclusive: Saturday night (June 6, 2009) the Legendary DJ Jazzy Jeff had the plug pulled on his DJ set in KC's Power & Light District because he played Hip Hop music. DJ Jazzy Jeff twittered about it, but we spoke with VA Emcee Skillz immediately afterwards. Skillz who was on stage with DJ Jazzy Jeff as a Hypeman during this incident, shares what really happened.

The difference between him & others is that He had alot of money to invest in himself because of his acting career. But he had the skill to push himself over the top with Great music. He worked his way up through the ranks by workin with 9th Wonder, Slum Village & many other "underground" cats. He paid his dues. Now he's successful. Stop Hating on the man and get ur own grind.smh

Drake did not make a buzz on his own. Drake is an actor (acting like a rapper) and a JEW. THAT is what got him on along with that (as usual) Interscope machine, which has been responsible for practically all of the violence/murders/crime in hip-hop! If Drake created an 'independent' buzz, then how come others are not doing it like that? It is who you are down with, not what you can do.

Its the owner/venue or entertainment managers fault for not doing there homework. They booked the tour for there venue and should of been in contact with tour manager on all details. Every Club/Venue on that level has a resident DJ or Soundman. It is not the Artist or DJ's fault its the Managers all involved. Another case of Poor Management and Passing the Blame. Jeff didn't have to play Hip Hop & I'm sure he has all Clean Versions anyway. He can spin everything all genres.

fyi- Jarmaine Dupri's set kept getting cit off last night at the power and light. they never shut down other music acts why do they only target hip hop. I lovekcand the p & L district but this is why kc will never have a good hip hop scene. makes me wanna move back to the east coast..this is sad!
