What Would Jesus Buy? - Shopocalypse Song

From producer Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me) and director Rob VanAlkemade, "What Would Jesus Buy?" examines the commercialization of Christmas in America while following Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping Gospel Choir on a cross-country mission to save Christmas from the Shopocalypse (the end of humankind from consumerism, over-consumption and the fires of eternal debt.) The film also delves into issues such as the role sweatshops play in America's mass consumerism and Big-Box Culture. From the humble beginnings of preaching at his portable pulpit on New York City subways, to having a congregation of thousands -- Bill Talen (aka Rev. Billy) has become the leader of not just a church, but a national movement.

Rev Billy ALSO doesn`t say anything about how buying things feeds people. To us they are just things, To the person or people who made those things, that's their labor, their job, their means of working to earn a living, their breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Or how Rev. Billy Exploits Christianity to justify systemized blind theft and neglect ultamitly. I am seeing our environment die quicker from an OIL Factory, than ANY FORM of consumerism.

At least material things can stay with you until death once they are bought and have an owner.

Because Material things don`t have to worry about having to go to work, pay the bills, buy food groceries, do chores, etc., but Human Beings do. Human beings cannot be there all of the time to entertain each other, or whatever 24/7, the way material things can.

@djthereplay The point is that people seem to think material things are the only things that can bring joy to people. It isn't that we aren't supposed to give, it is that we give the wrong things. We don't give enough love to people, including strangers and especially the impoverished, and we don't emphasis enough the fact that human relationships and experiences can be more joy with less cost (morally and usually financially as well) than items.
