John Samples, author of The Struggle to Limit Government ( http://bit.ly/bUWUOP ), is director of the Cato Institute's Center for Representative Government.

The Tea Party movement may endure, but its endurance will be a testament to its ability to understand that cutting government means having a long-term focus. John Samples, author of The Struggle to Limit Government and Director of the Cato Institute's Center for Representative Government, offers an assessment of what Tea Partiers should do if they want to sustain an effort to cut government.

Video produced by Caleb O. Brown and Austin Bragg.

  • Since when has the Republican Party ever been about small government in practice? The democrats may support the parasites at the bottom of society, but the republicans support the parasites at the top.

The Republican Party is in bed with the corporations; has a fascistic attitude to civil liberties, such as gay marriage and abortion; and has a strong theistic agenda. They are worse for liberty than those on the left. They love only to subject the poor to the most extreme tyranny possible.

  • the Tea Party movement has not been Hy-jacked, but they have been misrepresented by those that do not agree with their message, because it would mean that they would have less, less money, less power, less responsibility, less... the new more.

  • @worldnewsbbc1 No they're not. MSM has tried to make everyone thing that, but the whole dynamic of the Tea Party is that there is no "leader". We are lead by the Constitution. Anyone that states that they are the leaders or representatives is a liar. We are all sovereign.

Research and learn, or as you say, STFU.

  • The answer is:

    GOP Take note

In 2012 It's RON PAUL OR NOBODY AT ALL

Unless the GOP nominee is RON PAUL, vote Libertarian.

  • @esopxe I'm on the same page! I keep trying to tell people we need to vote third party and get people in there to make any real change, Our media needs to stop pushing the Dems and the GOP on us, and start getting behind these 3rd party choices.

Everything is so damn corrupt in this country.

  • Advice to tea party - STFU and stop embarrassing yourself. You are getting played by the Kochtopus which funds Cato.

  • @Yababoos123 I think you misread @BfSkinnerPunk's comment.

  • Advice to the Tea Party - Read a book or stay stupid.

  • The Reagan years were built on social issues....mainly gays lifestyle.

Polticians didn't have work at it because the AIDS epidemic did it all.

It was a very real example who out of control sexual desires led to sickness and death.

The Neo Cons are the all liberals except for being pro defense. They are big spending , high taxing , pro sexual preversion, pro affirmative action even when it leads to quotas.

Neo Cons are part of the problem not the solution

  • @BfSkinnerPunk

No You are saying that the Tea Party should be NeoCons like Bush. Forget it.
