Just fyi- It's the decemberists, and the last verse is missing. It is as follows: "Oh what a rush of ripe elan Languor on divans Dalliant and dainty But oh, the smell of burnt cocaine The dolor and decay It only makes me cranky Oh great calamity, Ditch of iniquity and tears How I abhor this place Its sweet and bitter taste Has left me wretched, retching on all fours Los Angeles, I'm yours"

You quite eloquently phrased a rather beautiful sentiment and the general attitude of Los Angelenos. Well-phrased my friend. An awesome song for an awesome city.

It's probably not the one that you're thinking of, but this song reminds me of 'Here Is No Why' by Smashing Pumpkins.

I very much doubt that this song is anti-L.A. It's much more a realistic take on what L.A. is, and an homage to the manner in which most Angelenos love and accept this city for exactly what it is. The origins of its beauty lie firmly routed in its imperfection, quite similar to that of the human condition. It may not be for everyone, but for the people who choose to stay here it is home.

this along with death cab's "why you'd want to live here" are the best anti-L.A. songs...
