at 0:23 where the man speaking says, "...if you take him seriously..." i'm not sure what he means by that. I mean i know what that part of the sentence means, obviously. please excuse my ignorance, but is he trying to say that philosophers don't take Mr. Baudrillard seriously? and if so, how come? If anyone understands by what that means pleeeeeeease message me back. i find it fascinating.

The map's not the territory. The map is part of the territory

Baudrillard was a disappointed 68er that felt postmodern society was useless and, at best, to be toyed with and enjoyed ironically. If a Warner Bros movie was based on his post-early 70s "philosophy," which was essentially a long winded joke against the superficiality of consumer society (including film and TV), I'm sure he enjoyed the movie thoroughly--ironically, of course.

Fascinating stuff! I've watched that movie et least 25 times and only now do I see the titel on the cover. I always took the big black book for The Bibel. Where is the interview footage with the philosophy proffs from? I would love to hear a more in-depth philosofical analysis.

@geneosis Very nicely said, the matrix itself is indoctrination of the systems programs. its the matrix within matrix.
Matrix telling us about Matrix makes us fall victim of yet another illusion created by the system, yet different from the one we discarded.

In an interview in which Baudrillard was asked about the Matrix, he said that the Wachowski brothers had distorted his philosophy, as opposed to representing it properly in the film.

I can't get enuff of The Matrix, but don't know much about Philosopy and ppl keep saying that Matrix is rlted to some philosophers. I rcved a link for user bigbangillusion777. The videos?... not worth it, but he wrote something about Philosophy and the Matrix (the mind-only life link). Can you guys read it and say if thatmakes any sense? thx

I remain skeptical of Baudrillard. However, I do like the video.

@BenNCM You're totally right, not a clue at all. Kind of annoying really isn't it.
I'm sure this would be awesome if I could hear it. Speakers up full and still struggling!

What helps (a little) is placing &fmt=18 behind the adres in the adres bar. This upgrades the quality of the video as well as the audio. You can use this on any Youtube video.
