An interview with climber Ron Kauk about the genesis of his climbing life—a camp in Yosemite—and his connection to Yosemite and the natural world since.
I've had the pleasure of meeting Ron and watching him climb. Words cannot describe the gentleness and warmth of this man, not to mention his huge talent as he scales walls of granite with the grace of a ballet performer and disappears into the sky.
He taught Stallone for the film "Cliffhanger" and worked with Tom Cruise for months on "Mission Impossible 2." His son, Lonnie, is a famous snowboarder. Now, Ron works with underprivileged and foster care children in Yosemite. He's outstanding.
@ewokscanclimb2 funny you say that.. i was just wacthing his segment on dosage vol 3 and i agree what u said about grades they dont define you as a climber!!, grades where invited because people didnt know how hard they were climbing.. climb for the love of it!! MUCH LOVE.
I saw Ron Kauk in person at Yosemite where he was presenting his awesome movie "Return To Balance: A Climber's Journey" He is truly gifted..........He will inspire more people to get into the natural world and away from the couch and TV.......
Ron Kauk is a great mind. He revolutionized the way I climb and think about climbing. And on that note...why would you ask about grades? You must have not listened to a single word he said. And for everyone else, his segment in Dosage 3 is Phenominal. That's the piece that changed my thinking about what climbing is.
