scupper plugs keep water from coming though the holes in your kayak you dont need them but i like them

kool really sweet idea and cheap. im really sorry to ask :( .im going to start to kayak and was wondering why u need scupper plugs of do u really need them im really confuzed can eneyone help (or what sort of thing u need them for eney awnsers a good awnser thanks plz help!!!!!!!!!

Typical sit-on-top kayaks have scupper drain holes. They are designed to allow water which collects on top of the kayak to run out (Without taking on additional water). Sometimes you may want to plug the scupper holes (In calm conditions), so that the cockpit area is totally dry... Hense the use of scupper plugs. Unless a person is way under the weight capacity of the kayak, there will probably be some water entering in through the scupper holes (It should be minimal though).

Would this work to plug a flush mounted rod holder? Any ideas?

They might not have a big enough diameter for a flush mount tube.
