  • Alan Ladd was a tough cat ..small in stature[ he had to stand on a box sometimes to be even with who he was talking to on the set] .. but no one to fool with in life ...when his wife was about to lose a child in birth ; the doctor told him pick or choose which one to save ..Alan told him ''you save both or else'' and he wasnt joking and the doctor went back in and saved both ..im pretty sure the baby was ALAN jr, the producer .

  • @mlkemper He was indeed a little tough guy, but life and 'drink' got the better of him in the end and he couldn't take it anymore......but what a movie he made in SHANE one of the best westerns of them all.....he should have been nominated for an Oscar for this performance.

  • Beautiful score by Victor Young. His work in "Around The World In 80 Days" is also magnificent. George Stevens´ film is a classic.

  • I really didn't know that Victor Young wrote the score for "Eighty Days" thanks a lot for the info...lol

  • GREAT MOVIE!!!Beautiful scenery,rock solid cast of actors....A+++++

  • Shaaaaaane! Come baaaaaaack!

    Great theme for a great movie... it really fits the tone of the movie and sets the tone of the movie. My third favorite western (and like the AFI "top 10" list, behind only The Searchers and High Noon).

  • Alan Ladd was a star athlete in school; a champion diver. Known as Tiny, he also ran a food stand. Redford owes a lot to him actually, as Alan was a prototype for Bob Redford.

  • The Music,The Grand Tetons, a great cast and of course, the Director George Stevens.

  • i love this movie

  • Personally I cannot imagine the movie Shane can be complete without this theme song 'Far Away Hills" This piece of music stuck with me for 50 years and whenever I hear this song, I always remember Shane (Allan Ladd) the stranger who in the movie came from no where and left in the end to no where.

    There had been many 'conspiracy theories'. 1 he was wounded by a gun shot and he left to die alone. 2. he had fallen in love with a married woman and he must leave to avoid a sticky problem. Sad ending
