asides I understand that in Canada with the snow, a trike makes sense as a 2 wheels wouldn't be practical

what is the rational behind riding a trike when you can ride a bike ? trike are heavy and inefficient they have more wind and rolling resistance and they are so low that they are poorly suited to city riding, last but not least they take space on the road. To me trike are more for old people who lack of balance especially uphill. There should be a reason why people ride trike as they sell better than recumbent but I fail to see the reason.

@dou40006 I personally don't ride in a large city, but the city I do ride in, I never have a problem. I don't "filter" or whatever it's called at intersections; I line up with the cars waiting for the light. Before I added all the accessories on it, my trike was actually the lightest bike I ever owned. The thing that I really love about it is that I can really load it up heavy, and I can't really tell the difference. I can't say the same for the Rans Tailwind that I used to ride.

I pretty much used to think the same thing about trikes till I tried one. I don't ever plan to go back to 2 wheels. I can't promise anything, but if you never have, try riding one sometime and you may like it. As far as speed, I'm just as fast (maybe even a little faster) on my trike as I was on my other bikes. It also is nice for the winter time when there's snow on the ground :-)
