Aug 1, 1981 - MTV, Jessie's Girl, the talent of Rick Springfield ....I remember it well.
October 24, 2008 - YEARS later, the song rocks, Rick's talents have given us so many wonderful artistic songs, records and cds. Love hearing the Jessie's Girl story and I'm so enjoying the new cd Venus in Overdrive - especially "What's Victoria's Secret" the song with a few bars and a reference with a smile to Jessie's Girl. So creative!

I guess I understand why people say music died with MTV. Pre-MTV, you could still make a living as an artist even if you were a fat-ass. Suddenly after 1981, you had Duran Duran and others, bands that weren't anything special as songwriters, but they wrote catchyish songs and looked good performing them. Suddenly models had another way of making money and suddenly real artists couldn't.
