West, Jr. who during his 39-year tenure as a coach of baseball & basketball at Crenshaw High School coached Darwin Cook, Marques Johnson, Robert Smith, Daryl Strawberry, Ellis Valentine, John Williams and many other fine athletes who went on to star in the NBA and the Major Leagues. But most importantly he coached many to become fine individuals. The 10-time City, 2-time State High School Basketball Coach of the Year won 28 League, 16 City, 8 State and 1 World Championship....WELL DONE WILLIE WEST!

Crenshaw High Class of 2008 I was on this team my junior year which was his last home game which was against Locke. My few years with him he was a great mentor to me and filled me with wisdom. Love ya Coach West
