The government introduced AIDS in the early 80's?
Did some government scientist invent it? WHERE do you get this (supposedly documented) data from? Please post a link from a reliable source. Teach us all about this government conspiracy.

Funny thing is Carroll O'Connor was also really very liberal and supported gay rights--- but he never made "gay icon" status! Judy Garland was somewhat homophobic in private life (she thought marriage to a woman would "cure" a gay man--- thus she helped push Peter Allen into that disastrous marriage to Liza!)--- and yet she is a "gay icon"! Go figure!!!

Ok...Im not sure if youre trying to diasgree with me or not but im not saying that every person who is/was a gay icon was rightfully so or that every person who was liberal and a supporter of gay rights made gay icon status...I said that was why Bea was a gay icon

Yes, I agree about Bea Arthur. I was just trying to point out that others like Judy Garland (and Donna Sommers) don't deserve the idolization the we have lavished on them--- they are far from being open-minded about gayness!

Tammy Faye Bakker Messner was a huge gay icon. her religion didn't support the gay lifestyle but she was one of the first christian people to support gays in the 80's and she continued right up until she died. i met her.
