Love Lies Bleeding
This side of town gives me everything i didn't need,
the shop face is frowning, the windows are burning.
The coffee machines running every kind of business down,
and Love lies a-bleeding, the drugs are succeeding.

You say theres still hope and you think the futures looking fine,
You buy what they tell you to buy and it suits you,
The girls on the street saying; ''worship me i own the ground''
You hate to be near them, a mile of confusion.

I'm always looking through a crowd,
thinking maybe that i'll see you again,
we're always lonely in a town,
moving silently as words disappear.
please visit me again,
and then you'll see that Love lies bleeding.

Oh dearest oh darling don't you think we might escape the net,
I stole and I scrounged just to live this side of town.
I fetched you some bread but theres always trouble at the door,
a rent in arrears or a bill for our fears.

Oh leave me to be, let my hands and feet be sandy now,
the sea always calls as the street lights unfold,
in the first day of light i'll be coming to your little bay,
to leave this old town for the home that i've found.
