January 25, 2011 - Newborn crawls on Hope's chest

Lily, a 4-year-old wild black bear, is denned in northeastern Minnesota with her year-old cub Hope and brand new cubs born Jan 21. Researchers are excited to witness the interactions of this rare 'mixed-age litter' and share them with the public through a den cam on www.bear.org. In this clip, we see unprecedented footage of an interaction between mother, yearling, and new cub. The new cub crawls onto yearling Hope's chest as Lily adjusts her position.

AAAWWW! Hope is such a wonderful "big sis". This capture is adorable. Poor Hope was alone last summer but now she has received a huge blessing to have two little siblings.

Thank you for posting these. I've been checking the den off and on all day, and always get Lily's backside! Wonderful to catch a glimpse of the cubs and Hope. One has to wonder how they will all fit in that den when the cubs grow.
