MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham features several "gadgets" that make the hospital more efficient and healthier, including the "Early Sense Monitor" that can take heart and respiratory readings without a nurse and a handwash station that prevents someone from entering a patient's room until they use hand sanitizer.

  • Sorry guys, but you didn't answer/dodged the question. How is that monitor better than traditional ones? You can see trends and watch patients away from the bedside with traditional monitors, too.

  • Now, that is what would REALLY help nurses and Doctors.

But, if the patient moves, than, the monitor might read movement, as breathing, and movement, is faster than breathing, so the patient would most likely end up setting off alarms.

    How is this prevented?
