http://www.tweaktown.com CES 2012 - We met up with JJ from ASUS today in their lovely suite at the Trump Towers here at CES and he was good enough to give us a hands-on introduction of the upcoming Z9P3-D8 Workstation server motherboard which is a dual socket board supporting upcoming Intel Xeon processors and chipsets.

This board comes with no less than eight DIMM slots supporting up to 128GB of memory, USB 3.0, dual Intel server grade gigabit LAN ports, an amazing seven x16 PCI-E 3.0 slots and a total of 14 SATA ports.

It should be going on sale towards the end of Q1 2012 in time for the new server processors from Intel.

  • if you saw the Nvidia CES every year they mention that adding more gpu will be more benefit (in gaming) than just the CPU or RAM so buy a middle end gaming pc and save your money for newer technology

  • @pumpuppthevolume srx gonna be like 650 to 800 price mark (as i read in a forum) and this s going to be a little less than 500 my opinion on pricing hope it doesn't cost more than 500 XD

  • is this more powerfull then SR3?

  • @ulkord

Yeah, I have an i7 860 which is over two years old now, and it's plenty good for any of todays games. Anyone considering getting this for gaming are basically throwing money out the window.

  • @MySchizoBuddy its quad channel theo, eash ram slot has its own channel.

  • Blue. Ugh...

  • just 4 RAM Slots per CPU. NO thanks. I'll pass.

  • how about price vs srx ?

  • Ummm no 10Gb ethernet? For a workstation class machine doing content development.... Grrrr.... Guess you'd have to buy a card or a FC solution...

  • @kevinsmammaxd there are so many people using dual cpu Xeon rigs for gaming
