The Word "Spinster" Gets A Makeover

The word "queer" has gone from a taunt to a slogan in just a generation. Can the same be done for the loaded word "spinster"?

The first time I heard the term spinster was on an episode of The Suite life on Deck. I had to google it to know that it referred to an unmarried woman. It's like calling gay person a fag or a Muslim a towelhead. But no one at least in NYC ever uses the term spinster, especially in a derogatory sense.

A spinster, unmarried and old maid. Or be careful now, A CAREER WOMAN.

A spinster is otherwise a LOSER in the life. Happy is the man with a full quiver, so that when they come knocking at the gate, he can answer.

A girl should marry when she is pretty, fresh and young. It is much easier to marry then, than when you are plain,stale and old. Eww.
