Better they have a price alive than not.
Of course captive bred is better but trade is heavily regulated and limited so it doesn't hurt the wild population. We've been waiting 6 months to get Pua a mate and it took over a year to get Pua imported. She was a failure at living wild and needed nursed back to heath.
Most exotics are bred in captivity(you can't even import things like monkeys so they are all bred here). Anteaters are one of a few exceptions.

Some are but there are never any advertised for sale that are bred in the captivity. They only have one baby every couple of years and that's if you have a very successful breeding program. They never need to advertises. I had people wanting on a waiting list soon as I had a male before. There are a limited number allowed exported from Guyana. They are commonly killed as a pest animal and people freak out and call people to get rid of them for just wandering into their yards.

Sometimes. She hates to be confined so at night will claw at the doors to get out. Sometimes she had climbed the curtains.

The laws vary by area. You need to check the state, county and city laws. I make them a special diet.
