When starting up a reef aquarium are you supposed to keep the lights on until its cycled?

hey I, it would be better to NOT run the lights as the 'cycle' is one of the most fertile times in a tanks life but it is hard to not want to look at a new reef :)

hey R, Live Rock from a saltwater environment is only good in a saltwater environment. I am sure you could find Live Rock that came from a Freshwater environment to use in a Freshwater application.

Do you need a refrigeration unit on a reef tank?

hey O, depending on the size and number of pumps and lights you may need a chiller to maintain a steady water temperature.
