I will be demonstrating foam roller exercises in the video below. Many of my clients use the foam roller to get deep pressure on muscles that may need myofascial release.

Myofascial release (or deep tissue work) method works on the restricted fascia. Practitioners use knuckles, elbows, or other tools to slowly stretch the restricted fascia by applying force. Direct myofascial release seeks for changes in the myofascial structures by stretching, elongation of fascia, or mobilising adhesive tissues. The practitioner moves slowly through the layers of the fascia until the deep tissues are reached.

  • when you roll the roller on your thorasic spine and you hear like 30 little cracks and pops but without pain, is it okay?

  • @492333 thats fine. Its the spine releasing, actually should feel good :)

  • @fitman23

it actually pops every time I roll, not just once as when you crack fingers

    more like grinding and clinging

another question, how often can you release the spine?

  • @492333 You can release the spine daily, but I would recommend to see a chiropractor to see exactly whats up with the spine.

  • Will you injure yourself if you roll onto the lower back? I have done this a couple of times.

  • It might. You put yourself at an awkward position when rolling on your lower back, which may cause injury.
