"Keep in mind its not only a sport, its also art."
Yes, indeed it is. That is why 40% of judging criteria consists of artistic merits which are looked upon if the couple is technically evenly matched.
"You cant say everybody disagreeing with you is just stupid & wrong."
That's not what I said, but it would be stupid and wrong to say couple x belongs ahead of couple y and fail to provide a reasoning based on the judging criteria and NOT on personal opinion.
@AceyBlade Actually I have to agree with you on the judging part.
I do not really dislike any of the couples on this level btw. I just disagree with some of the visions of these couples. Still I trully think Martino should still be ahead of Valentin. Keep in mind its not only a sport, its also art. You cant say everybody disagreeing with you is just stupid & wrong.
It's the sign of a good judge who can say, f.ex. "well I very much dislike their dancing, but I can't mark them lower than 3rd even though I like the couples behind them". And who can also ask the question "why" with actual reasons instead of vague concepts.
"You have to accept that everybody is different and likes different things"
This statement is untrue when it comes to judging. A judge is a bad judge if instead of following the order of judging criteria he only thinks of his opinion on a couple. That "opinion" is very often influenced by things outside of the actual dancing's merits. You hear statements like "deserving to win because they work so hard" etc.
60% of the judging criteria is mainly musicality and technique and body lines. You cannot hold only to an opinion when it comes to those two things. They can be objectively observed unlike 40% of the rest of the criteria which basicly the artistic side. I'm really glad it's (for now) working that way because it gives some objectivity into judging. Those are not really up to an opinion. They are up to critical and objective analysis.
@AceyBlade Why do you think that? You have to accept that everybody is different and likes different things. If someone disagrees with you it doesnt mean he is not up to an opinion.
No, they shouldn't. Their technical merit isn't enough to warrant them a place before Valentin. However, there are couples ahead of Valentin who belong behind him.
