This is a threatened species, only found in nature in northern Brazil and Guyana, and almost extinct in the wild due to trapping for the pet trade. I'm not sure how many people around realize that.

I know they don't look that good but I live near there and the missing breast feathers are because they use them to indentify the gender. They said using blood can infect them. They are fed good food, pellets, fruits, cereal, veggies, nuts, beans and many more so the birds aren't really neglected.

i can't believe they are so friendly with each other ...they eat side by side with no problems....my lovebirds would kill each other if they get that close...must be the Japanese culture...

In Japan you can buy in a pet shop specializing in birds. Beetle and the seven colors are also at home.
