This machine is a single end vertical design with the Chuck Ring mounted in the down position. The spindle is driven via a gearbox mounted brake motor as are the roll cams.
The operator would place either a drum top or bottom on the chuck and then position the formed shell on the part (top or bottom). At that time the machine cycle would be initiated. Once the cycle has been started a hold down device would actuate, clamping the shell and part together. At that time the spindle would begin rotating and the Seaming Roll would be actuated to extend and form the seam. Once the seam is formed the Rolls retract the spindle stops and the hold down in released so the drum can be removed and another drum /bottom can be loaded.
The production rate of this machine is around 180 cycles per hour.
