Driving from Independence to Salem, Oregon via River Road, Orville Road, Vitae Springs Road, and Skyline Drive. I consider it my personal roller coaster. The car is Cruella, my '91 Cadillac Sedan de Ville with 227,000 miles. My yellow Lab, Hoover, is with me; he loves to go for rides (as you can tell).

  • Ok Its called hylo road in south salem and its straight as an arrow, step on the gas and dont let off till you run out of road... ; )

  • Yeah, I've driven Hylo Road, too -- just as you described.

  • This video sucks!!!

Buy a 2,200 lb. Miata 5spd then go tape it, not a front wheel drive 4,500 lb. pile of crap.

  • It's 3,600 pounds, and can easily outrun your Miata, so I suggest you take your little 5-speed and stick it up your ass.

  • What's that thing just below the rearview mirror that looks like a UFO?

  • It's a compass mounted to the windshield with little suction cups. I have it more for entertainment than navigation.

  • Wow! it has the very same Blinker klick as my parents's old given away 1995 Pontiac grand am se. well thats because Cadillac and pontiac are from the same car company General motors or GM for short. Its sad that pontiac is out of bisness.

  • Fun video

  • Uuh no it's not Hylo it's Vatae Springs you silly... Used to bust the Satanic worshipers @ the old house.. There was an A-Frame house on top of the hill.. Damn I walked all the way down that road on shrooms many of times.

  • OGMOMGOMGGM I LOVE THAT ROAD. i live in salem too. too much fun!!

  • You should make a video of hilow road. I think thats what its called. if you have driven it you know it a real rollercoaster...

  • Great road to travel on. Just watch out for the Marion County Sheriff's Deputy that patrols this stretch. They are very sneaky and use LIDAR.

  • landing us backwards into the ditch and dirt wall at 5:21...it was pretty scary, we totally embraced ourselves to flip, and we ended up burrying the back end into the wall of dirt that i had to climb up to get on top of the car to open the back door in order to check on our kids!!! anyways, the road already looks so different, i almost didn't recognize it, but i have memorized the turns since i drive it every single day. it sure looks pretty green then! thanks for sharing!

  • at 5:28, that turn going the other way is the first set of curves on Vitae Springs, it's 15 mph, and my sis was driving us to our friends house on the first day of rain in Oregon (you know how slick it gets), that embankment off to the right, yeah, we slid onto it, back on the road, off the other embankment, back on the road and was heading off that cliff, until she let go of the wheel, which is usually the worst thing to do, but it actually saved our lives, it spun us around 3 times before...
