How reliable is unique identification project? This question has surfaced repeatedly but NEWS9 secret operation seems to have found the answer to this question.
The Correct name for UID is Niraadhaar. The sooner this project is abandoned the better. May experts like Jean Dreze, Aruna Roy, Nikhil Dey, Reetika Khera have pleaded with the Govt not to link Aadhaar with PPDS and NREGA or introduce Cash Transfers as a better alternative as it is not as this will create millions of ghost recipients receiving benefits they never deserved.
We now have news that two lakh Aadhaar cards could not be delivered and it is apparent that bogus addresses were used during registrations and people do not reside as claimed. WE are now told that Aadhaar is duplication NPR registration and this needs deduplication. The whole Project seems to be one mans dream, never had a project report or a cost benefit analysis that was made available to any body. Commonsense dictates that a thorough study and debate was necessary for a project of this size
As for the Silly Concept of Introducers it was obvious from day one that every Aadhaar Office will be surrounded by TOUTS posing as Introducers. The officer signing the papers sits some other building and attests applications blindly. Photos an be changed, name and address can be filled in later and the fee Rs 100 per attestation. The reserve Bank rightly told all banks to do their own KYC ( know your customer) meaning verify identity details on Aadhaar card as it seemed to lack reliability.
The Custodians of UID are Safron and LI Identity Solutions, a company that has an OU with World Bank to create a Global Database of worlds population; and we Indians are the Guinea Pigs. The Fact that UIDAI was headed by ex Infosys Chairman and a Billionaire plus the fact that UIDI had huge advertising and marketing budget ( yes poor mans Tax money) the media danced to the tunes of NN and UIDAI until upto the 1st anniversary. Now advertising dollars have disappeared and truth is emerging. Truth always prevails
As a Nation we had no clue as to who was really backing UID and we kept guessing until one lady, Sudha Pillay Secretary Planning Commission stood up and challenged UIDAI. Today UIDAI is collapsing like a deck of cards as the entire Project was foundation less. It is unconstitutional, does not have Parliamentary approval, was never truly meant for the Poor people, Violates peoples privacy. ( continued)
Aadhaar was meant for the poor especially the rural population who we were told had no identity and was necessary to ensure the deerving people in poverty received GoI food and work subsidies. However when registration commences, the focus was not on the poor and the needy but the desire to grab any one and every one who queued up be registered and given an Aadhaar. The emphasis was not on quality but maximising the numbers to demand thousands of crores from the Finance Minister. ( Continued )
Next we were told that Aadhaar Smart Card was being envisaged. This move has been blocked by UPA II Ministers. Aadhaar was based on so many lies that IBM and HP complained bitterly about tendering processes and quit the race. ( Continued)
UIDAI was never authorised to capture Iris Scans yet has forced this on millions. Every one at UIDAI swore that UID was in fact only unique identity number and will never be a card. People who registered would be sent letters we were told. Then suddenly without any notice the 12 digit Unique identity number became a Bar Code, and the letter became a Card Board Aaadhar card that was ugly and too big for any pocket. I have handled this yukky looking Aadhaar card with a plastic wrapping. ( Cont )

At first we were told that UID was compulsory for the entire population of 1.2 billion people. This music changed abruptly to not compulsory and only for 600 million people.
