Please visit http://www.adogisforlife.com for more information.

For over 33 years we have been saying that "A Dog is For Life, Not Just for Christmas" yet worryingly many children and their parents still consider a puppy as a suitable present and want to pop a pooch under the Christmas tree. Please join us in campaigning for an end to sad situations like these.

  • if i adopt a puppy do i get dermot with it ??

  • @richardwp47 yes!!!!!!! and check the online sites for gumtree add monitoring like get gumtree animal free, its amazing and sad how many dogs etc get dumped there, eg to swap for toys, because someone is tired of them, or for the usual- cash. poor dogs, they have no say in this.

  • @knitman57 You are just another dog breeder who uses dogs to make profits, it is people like you who cause the massive excess of discarded dogs in pounds. if you really cared ou would only be taking in lost and unwanted dogs and not breeding more for profit..

  • Welll done Dermot, but you did not say the filthy "breeder" word, the breeders are the filth who offload onto the net, the welfare of the mother dogs is never mentioned. Your country has as many shameful examples of puppy milling/farming as other countries, and the back yard breeders, the welfare scum who do it for tax free profit, they are the worst,so say the breeder word Dermot! And please UK ETC STOP SUPPORTING THESE BLUDGERS, TELL THEM TO GET A REAL JOB!

  • @knitman57 We have no problem with reputable breeders at all. We just know that buying a puppy can be hit and miss if you don’t know what to look for/which questions to ask. You could end up with a sick/dying puppy that - even if he survived - might be plagued with lifelong health/behavioural problems. Online impulse buying of puppy farmed dogs is sadly very common. We want to offer advice/educate anyone interested in getting a puppy how to find a great, reputable breeder. Details in link above.

  • Better still, don't buy a puppy from a breeder at all, donate for a rescue dog (any age from puppy upwards).
