The girl who bought the t shirt, has the right to return that radio and demand a new one, because the deal was a t-shirt WITH a free radio, so the radio is a part of the deal, so it must work propperly.
I wouldn't have left until i got my money back or another radio, and make a large scene until that sarcastic bitch would give in, because i'm good in telling bystanders what a fraud that shop is, and that they shouldn't buy the same crap, because it might be just that.

what a sarcastic bitch! Now i don't know what laws you have in the UK, but here in holland you may return your clothes within a week, and get your money back, without
having to explane why you want your money back. the only exception is when a shop does a total sale out and therefore no return is possible, but that should be notified on the bill.
