Maritime Heritage Alliance's (MHA) H-28 ketch Arcturos working to windward.
The mainsail was down, that day, because the wind was strong, so the jib and mizzen provide plenty of power in these conditions.
These sails balanced to luff exactly at the same time, the boat is steering itself.

Built in 1947, this boat is an example of many good designs by L. Francis Herreshoff.

Join the MHA and come sailing with us!

  • I've sailed on an H-28 ketch 'Northstar' in San Diego. Videos are on Youtube. Beautiful boats!
