The Magistrates Court in Chinchilla exonerates Drew and June for their involvement in protests against coal seam gas in residential areas. Drew was charged under section 805 of the Petroleum and Gas Act (2004), which makes it illegal for a landholder to prevent a gas mining company from accessing their property. June was charged with refusing to obey a police direction.
This is part of the Lock the Gate campaign, where farmers and landholders across Australia are resisting the encroachment of coal and gas mining activities onto private land.
