I just read the news report on this whole thing and my god does it piss me off. The driver, Dan Broughton. A 19 year old with a suspended license for numerous traffic offenses including speeding and not stopping at stop signs. He decided he was a special snowflake who didn't need to obey laws and continued to drive anyway, like so. I'm very sorry to the families of those 4 teens.

I feel sorry for the conductor............im sure he feels bad and thinks about it often, but he had no control over others stupidity.

I can empathise with the Locomotive driver having Driven trains in New Zealand being also involved in a fatality where as we all now we can't swerve to miss idiots.Only hope the Loco Driver has been able to deal with this needless accident.

@groundhog2008 well if i saw blinking lights at a train track crossing and heard a whistle i would stop. its called thinking and in this case the driver of the car was not

Yes Trains aren't just one car but will have many and be up to a mile long. Just as your car can take many feet to stop add each loaded rail car pushing the engine further and further. I still think that regardless of whether there would have been gates installed the reckless driver would have went around them anyway.

Trains don't "just stop.". Sometimes, it takes MILES to slow down and stop all that weight.

@groundhog2008 It doesn't matter man...he went around an SUV already stopped,waiting for the train...i feel sorry for the poor kids that died...It wasn't their fault..they are just kids..kids make mistakes...the guy driving had his license suspended at the time of the accident...would have been a better outcome,if he was arrested before all this happened maybe he would have learned to not drive so recklessly...NEVER GO AROUND A CROSSING,EVEN IF YOU THINK IT IS SAFE!!!

@groundhog2008 I have no heart for careless and reckless people. Gates cost money and aren't nessasary at all! It had lights. You see blinking lights, you fucking stop and wait! All this driver had to do was be a little intelligent and a little patient. The driver was neither and it's people like that that get other people killed, and in this case, DID. We don't need morons like that in the world. We need people like that to die and die young.

If your dumb enough to have friends who have shit for brains and choose to get in the car they are driving - well what the fuck do you expect?
