My mother use to play this on the piano for me when she was living. It still makes me cry to this day and she left this earth for Heaven when I was too young to lose my mother. That was 18 years ago and my name is Rachel!!!

@chocky1251 I am so grateful that you took the time to tell everyone how much this song means to you. Rachel's Song was the first of what turned out to be nearly 150 songs that I have written and recorded onto 15 albums with Gary Prim. I love to hear these wonderful stories. I cherish every one.

I took the casette tape that this song was on with me on a trip with my Grandmother, we both loved it so much and afterwards she asked me to bring it with all the time. She passed away in September but I can still hear how happy this song made her, I plan to play it during my wedding in her honor. It is such a beautiful song and still to this day moves me to tears... thank you for making such beautiful music!!

Just wanted to say thank you for composing this song. Back when I was in highschool someone who I loved dearly requested that I learn this song; She meant the world to me and every time I hear it, I am reminded of wonderful memories.

(also this song can stand on its own merits, I personally do not appreciate the accoustic rendition as much as someone playing from the heart on the ol box of wood :-)

@XCcougar1 The piano part was played on an acoustic Yamaha baby grand piano, in fact I was told that it was the first one that Yamaha ever shipped to Nashville. The other parts, electric piano, strings and horns, were performed on a Yamaha DX7 synthesizer. All parts were performed by Gary Prim. Have fun playing Rachel's Song for yourself.

i am  learning to play this piece on the piano and i absolutely love it, but you played this recorded version on the keyboard not the piano correct?
