edward had socialist views which upset the establishment.he cared about unemployment.as for germany he had relatives there,and spoke the language, he never forgot the carnage of the first world war and wanted to avoid another war with germany. we now know the horror of the war but in those days events were unfolding;

Churchill himself was an advocate of eugenics,as were others in government.The only difference between him & Hitler was that Hitler made no secret of it.

lol can you imagine what would have happened if Edward had remained king??

It seems that Edward wasn't only evil but also stupid.

In 1936- English Gov. appeased Hitler & self-disarmed. Churchill said Hitler would attack, so was called a War Monger. A hopeless situation for a disarmed England! Did E. abdicate & fake a roll to position himself to mitigate harsh subjugation of England in future? In 1940, did his words & dangerous wandering from Paris to Provence to Portugal, offer himself as “bait”, hoping to delay Hitler’s invasion past summer & radar setup?- Hitler did delay. --Did Edward's desperate acts save Britain?

The greatest possible blessing for Europe and Great Britain, would have been an America that stayed totally out of European affairs. Much better off would Britain be today had they cooperated with Germany in its plans in Europe instead of handing the entire future of Western Civilization over to the American-Unculture!

@JuanMacready I did not like Edward but Juan climb back into that manhole from wence you came. You abhorrent, vile piece of crap. You are all over YouTube making derogatory remarks against all people, good and bad. You have this fixation with cancer, which I hope you get soon so we can be rid of you. You wimp.

@ultracairo The "Nazi-thing sounds" horrible? Oh brother. And yes, if you know history, many, many people were smart enough to know exactly what the Hitler and his henchmen were all about and what was coming. But obviously the Duke of Windsor was not too bright.
Thank goodness, Edward VIII didn't remain King. George VI was so marvelous, especially in WWII.
