Doesn't sound like Dad really enjoyed TOL (which had 0 entertainment value), it seems more like pandering to the pretentious.

Warrior was my favorite film of the year as well. Great acting throughout.

Indepth passion review top 3 Movies of 2011: both your picks are all worthly. My top 3 movie picks would be The Help, War Horse & Super 8 for 2011 are all impactful-strong films that I really enjoyed this year.

@GabnDad Lol. I didn't find it cheesy at all -- just predictable and cliche'd, but its story and performances swept me away. But we're all free to have opinions. :) We usually agree on most films, lol.

i dont think i could just pick 3, i think it was a great year for cinema. my picks would be (in no order) the tree of life, carnage, moneyball, 50/50, warrior, the beaver, the help, martha marcy may marlene, trust, super 8, x-men first class, hanna.... i have yet to see drive and melancholia but i will definitely see them eventually. great picks btw.

Great list...Okay I have to admit that your dad's picks (except for 'Descendants') made me smile...Yes because he agreed with my picks LOL. And except for 'Drive' which I may have to see again, our lists showed the same film.. Poor John, hardly anyone agreed with his list. Love your line Gab...'George Clooney did less George Clooney.
Did you two see Warrior? I don't remember a review on it. It's my favorite movie of the year. Very emotionally stirring and intense. Great film.

@GabnDad You didn't like it? Lol. I admit it has its cliche's but it also had a lot going for it. It felt honest and had a lot of heart.

@RullyisJRM I thought the performances were great, but the story seemed cheesy to me... Maybe it's the Female factor? ;-)
