  • fitzpatrick is an exception: they are an ancient gaelic family, and were kings of OSRAIGHE before the norman invasion. They originally used the name MAC GIOLLA PADRAIG. Later part anglising it using the norman 'fitz' prefix in their surname. See grange fertagh near urlingford county kilkenny and some of their burial tombs.
