  • Hi Jason,

Who made the engine? In particular, how did you model the class lights on the roof of the cab? (I presume they're class lights).

    Cheers,

    Colin

  • The engine was an early P2K SW1200, which I modified heavily. The class lights are scratchbuilt.

  • Sorry, but the "Steam" looks to way out of scale.....

  • There is no way to make scale steam. Even real steam on a live steam model looks out of scale. Read our latest newsletter and you will see a 1-second-exposure photo of the steam - it looks just like the real thing.

  • @northlander30 As well as the spark arrestor stacks, bell, horn, antenna, awnings and as mentioned wire and bending templates for all the handrails as well as wire grabs. I modeled 2 units using these kits ans the only parts i needed to add that were not included were cut levers, mu hoses and train lines and windshield wipers.

  • @cthart Colin there was a Canadian company by the name of Juneco Scale models that made dress up or detail kits for both the CN SW1200rs and CP SW1200rs. It came with all of the parts necessary to model these units prototypically. The kit had everything from both front and rear number board/headlight castings, class lights, winter hatch, fuel tank and piping, front and rear pilots, mu stands, drop steps, and even included the Flex Coil cast sideframes for the trucks, and wire and bending templates.

  • i notice at the near end, the generator is the very last car, let's say a c-424 was hauling a 5 car train, and the generator was at the end, would the it still provide steam? (usually, it is after the engine)

  • Great Via Steam Car, Wow!

"But, that HO CN SW1200RS is the Best i have Ever Seen, Wow"!! I miss seeing them for real here, they were great Yard & Road Switchers! Thanks, Sarnia Ontario.

  • Nice Rapido! Looks great! can't wait to see that LRC in HO scale. Hope you guys get the real one too!

  • Hi Jason,

what type of trucks did you use on the SW1200 - I need to do the same style of trucks on my MN&S SW1200s.

    Graham

  • Rapidotrains? i have the via version of this but i cannot fugure out how to make smoke come out when my train is stopes, or how to make a lot come out at slow speeds... HELP PLEASE!!!!!

  • Note before the end of the video it says "SW1200RS kitbashed by Jason Shron" (president of Rapido Trains). What he started from, I'm not sure, but there is no commercially available SW1200RS out there (apart from some brass models).

  • What company makes that ho cn sw1200rs?

  • $59.99
