like the other guy said .. It's Halogen bulbs you need to be carefull of finger oils.

The regular low watt bulbs like brake & parking lamps will just slowly heat and dry up any oils but the Halogen bulbs get to hot so quick, the sudden change in temperature of the glass cooks the oil in the spot of the fingerprint & will crack the glass and cause premature failure.

Not everytime but lots of times. Be carefull

  • @DtoWnSux1 Im having the same problem....my tail lights are both out but the break light works when I press on the breaks. I dont know what the cause of the problem is....did you ever figure this out?

  • This works for a '95 Jetta MKIII as well? 'Cause one of my tail light bulbs is out.

  • Useful clip, better than the Haynes Manual. Thanks!

  • @SHAVOISCOOL your thinking about halogen bulbs

  • @rha37 lol u right

  • you did a great job except 1 thing... you should never touch the bulb with your fingers. the oil on your hands is now going to create a hot spot now and the life of your bulb is going to be shorter than normal.

  • well my one light wouldnt work so i tried a new bulb. new bulb didnt work. so i tried the bulb that did work(right tail light bulb) in the left tail light spot, didnt work. but NOW neither of the bulbs work in either of the inlets. could one of the prongs be bent inside or sumthing or is it with wiring. all i have said above is all i know though it just wont light up try after try swaping bulbs and pluging and unpluging the wiring to the cartrage.

  • this is common sense

  • Show the other side. That's the problem side.
