The oxy-acetylene torch is about 100 years old now, but it is still by far the best single "welding" tool that you can own. You can weld, solder, braze, anneal, temper, forge and bend a wide assortment of metals. With the cutting tip you can cut steel plate, sometimes up to a foot thick or even more. In skilled hands, oxy-acetylene welds are extremely tough and often surpass TIG welding in quality. If you can only afford one welding setup in your shop, oxy-acetylene is usually the best choice.

why are you using copper for an awning frame? whats the awning covered with?

@3habaneros Because it looks nice! The awning was covered in a polyurethane coated canvas material.

With this process can you braze stainless steel to Copper?

From what I've gathered, it's possible with a special type of rod, and rather difficult.

This process is Brazeing not welding...welding is the fusion of metal, in Brazeing there is no melting of the parent metal.....
