@MrMockeryMcFly Actually I did watch that video and it only confirmed my suspicions. That course was far from extreme and even that 4wd version was scrambling about precariously and looked seriously out of its depth.
True, most X1s will never be taken further off road than up the curb onto their owners driveway. But I'd put money on it that any quattro audi or 3 Series ix would be just and capable on snow. Making it a pointless gimmick car. Like most vehicles of this type.

@soundseeker63 I find it funny how you are doubting the X1's offroad capabilities, yet there is a "BMW X1 also does offroad" video that shows the X1 driving through mud on 3 wheels on the right side of your screen. Again, you don't need dirt tyres, low range gearbox, etc. You're missing the point. No one buys an expensive BMW to trash offroad. This car is meant to be used as a CAR that can handle the occasional snow storm. In Canada all X1s are AWD and have 230hp.

@MrMockeryMcFly This car has about as much offroading ability as as supermodel in high heels. Most of them are only 2wd anyway. No low range gearbox, no locking diffs, no dirt tyres...ect.
I don't know why people assume cars with tall bodywork and marginally raised suspension will be even passable off road. Even the 4wd X6 can't handle snow so god knows what this would be like. Sorry but they are just pointless and I think, rather ugly.

@soundseeker63 People want something that falls in between a car and an SUV. I don't see why anyone would hate a car like this. It's more maneuverable than an SUV, but has more offroading capabilities than a car. You would see me driving this thing around town in the Winter months for sure, if i had one.

These totally pointless "softroader" type vehicles are becoming very tedious if you ask me. Nobody really needs them, and they don't do anything much better than normal cars, but some people several years ago decided they were "fashionable" and now every manufacturer and a lot of buyers have jumped on that bandwagon. I take an instant disslike to people who buy cars just for fashion and image reasons like this. Pinnacle of the shallow and materialistic society of today. They suck.
Yet another reason why Fifth Gear is still RUBBISH.
