Barney Frank joins Charlie Rose to discuss his view of the causes of our current economic crisis and details of the massive Wall Street bailout.
Frank explains that if only the government buys and holds the junk financial assets (mortgage, HELOC, credit card, auto, and education debt securities) the credit markets would flow again and the government would inevitably turn a profit.
Sure good one!
I wish that Sen. Frank really had lived up to his left-wing reputation. If that had been the case, he would have rejected the Bush/Paulson proposal in favor of alternatives (e.g. govt. loan injections to troubled banks, or buying equity shares in banks that will rise in value once we're past the crisis) that would be more likely to work, have wider benefits, and cost far less to the taxpayer.

If Obama wants change in Washington, he should start with Barney Frank Rubble and Nancy the "Divider" Pelosi. Get rid of these to nuts.

I know fully what the "rescue" plan is about. You fail to watch Cspan and NEWs where Democrat play the party-line BULLSHIT everyday.
Pelosi should be fired for her poor leadership and lack of bringing people together. Barney Rubble is a LEFT WING GOOFBALL. Of the House's 235 Democratic members, 140 voted in favor of the bailout, 95 against. Of 199 Republicans, only 65 voted "yea."

You don't seem to realize that the core of the plan -- the $700 billion for the government to buy bad assets from the troubled banks -- is a big cash reward to the financial industry after all their risk-taking and greed. The fact that he is supporting the plan shows that he is looking out for his Wall Street contributors. This plan has nothing to do with the LEFT, which does not support the plan.

Buy now, sell a couple years later, and maybe break even. What a fu**ing moron. This jacka** needs to read some blogs to see what they would be buying. It was mostly FRAUD, Frank.
