The pledge didn't include the words "under god" until 1954.

Never underestimate the amount of brainwashing that has been effective on the American public. Fear is also an effective propaganda tool.

@xlightwavex You are correct. We are indeed a Republic, not a democracy, always have been (until very recently lmao now it's just a police state).

@HGSChicago The government?

@iammrkcohen Good observation. The Pledge of Allegiance is socialist propaganda anyway, and adding "under God" just obscures the problematic point of praying to a flag (which according to my understanding, is idolatry). It also obscures the reality behind the wording: Americans were being trained to hold allegiance toward a Unitary State rather than to united States.
Slapping "God" onto the whole mess, I imagine, made it more palatable to the Christian sheeple.

The whole "this is a constitutional republic, NOT a democracy!" meme is a patriot/constitutionalist urban legend -- time to put it to rest. The correct answer is "all of the above." We are a constitutional, representative republic, with democratically elected reps. And we have a long tradition of direct democracy too, especially in small towns.
Jefferson's party, after all, was the Democratic Republicans. If that's good enough for Tom Jefferson it's good enough for me.

Excellent. Who made this, the America Firsters?

@iammrkcohen With all due respect intended and requested hopefully, what is your comment on the term being used in our country's national anthem? (fourth stanza).
-
@iammrkcohen so the point is people became retarded in 1954

i suppose to really understand democracy you shouldnt look to a deffinition but a example look to the earlly greek texts at the times before solon and draco you might find some shocking similaritys to were we are heading now you will find how debtors and creditors related to each other in that time and why democracy came into being

humm i was taught in school it was democracy in a republic ie constitutional republic sounds right
however democracy is often loosely thrown around to mean a nation that governs itself for the most part at a local level
and comes together against mutal threats only
and also it fundamentally opposes tyranny
from within
thanks for posting this! Great flashback
